Dr. Raul Gonzalez

Background

Director of ATA and TREC

University of Arizona College of Education

Raul Gonzalez, Ph.D., serves as the Director of the Arizona Teachers Academy (ATA) and of the Tucson Regional Educator Collaborative (TREC) in the College of Education at the University of Arizona.

Though originally from the Texas/Mexico borderlands, he has called Southern Arizona home since 2012 where he immersed himself in the educator community — serving first as a social studies teacher at Pueblo High School in Tucson, Arizona, and then later supporting pre-service and in-service teachers from his positions at the University of Arizona.

Along this path, he has had the privilege of working in professional development spaces with educators from across Arizona, gaining insights that he hopes can help TVT continue forward with its mission of advocating for and supporting teachers throughout the region.

He is an avid trail runner and climber who can often be found enjoying all the amazing wilderness Arizona has to offer.
