Dr. Brian Stewart

Vice President

Pima Community College, Northwest Campus

Dr. Brian Stewart has worked for Pima College for over 20 years and has most recently been recognized as an Aspen Institute Rising President Fellow. He started as a nursing faculty and moved into being a department chair, nursing director, educational director, dean, and vice president. He currently serves as the vice president for the Northwest Campus at Pima Community College and is the Chief Cultural Impact Officer for the College. He has written and received grants from various Arizona agencies, Lumina Foundation, Federal Health and Human Services, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, totaling over $50 million to the Tucson community.

He is a registered nurse in Arizona and has degrees in Fine Arts, Nursing, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Learning Science. His area of research is how the behavioral neuroscience of learning can be used in educational and employment success. He views leadership and teaching as the process to inspire wonder, empower others, and modeling equity.

Brian is an Arizona native, from various rural communities and is the first in his family to go to college and complete advanced degrees. He continues to support his family and the community in which he was raised. He is committed to equitable access to learning for all students and believes the key is creating student environments that promote safety, respect, and are inspiring to all.
