Tucson Values Teachers presented the January Teacher Excellence Award today to Susan Luciano, a third-grade teacher at E.C. Nash Elementary School in Amphitheater Public Schools. Luciano is in her fourth year teaching at Nash after moving with her family to Tucson from New Jersey.
Luciano was nominated by her colleague and third-grade team member, Miranda Busch. In her nominating statement, Busch said, “Mrs. Luciano has guided, helped, supported me this year so far in my first year of teaching. She is such a hard worker always putting everyone else first and always goes out of her way to help her students no matter what. She had a student that got rushed to the hospital over a weekend and immediately went up to the hospital to check on that student. She truly is beautiful inside and out.”
Tucson Values Teachers spotlights quality Southern Arizona teachers every month. Teachers are nominated through Tucson Values Teachers’ website by colleagues, students, friends, and other community members. Winners of the Teacher Excellence Award receive $250 cash courtesy of Helios Education Foundation, a $100 gift card for classroom materials, and flowers.
