Teacher Excellence Award Winners

Kobe Henke, March 2023 Teacher Excellence Award Winner

Tucson Values Teachers (TVT) presented the March Teacher Excellence Award to Kobe Henke, a 7th and 8th grade math teacher at Academy of Tucson Middle School. Mrs. Henke, a native Tucsonan, began teaching at the Academy of Tucson Middle School five years ago following the completion of her undergraduate degree at Northern Arizona University.

Mrs. Henke also serves as the schools’ STEM coordinator. In this capacity, she advises the STEM Club and helps students prepare and submit science projects to the Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation (SARSEF). She also coordinates annual field trips to Disneyland for students in the club to participate in a behind-the-scenes, real-world STEM experience.

Mrs. Henke was nominated by Joanna Bradley, a parent of one of Mrs. Henke’s 8th grade students. Ms. Bradley wrote, “Have you ever had a teacher who makes you want to come to school each day? A teacher who makes learning fun and makes you want to work even harder? She may look like a student herself, but this powerhouse goes above and beyond teaching math and leading the Middle School STEM program.”

Ms. Bradley went on to write that, “Mrs. Henke’s energy is contagious, her dedication is amazing, and her drive to help every child she can is exemplary. Mrs. Henke is a true star.”
