Teacher Excellence Award Winners

Karen Rimmell, November 2021 Teacher Excellence Award Winner

Tucson Values Teachers (TVT) presented the November Teacher Excellence Award to Karen Rimmell, an English teacher at Pueblo High School in Tucson Unified School District. Ms. Rimmell has spent her entire 17-year career in education at Pueblo.

Ms. Rimmell, a National Board Certified Teacher, currently teaches Honors 10 English and AP Language and Composition. In addition to her classes, Ms. Rimmell serves as the school’s Yearbook Sponsor.

Kathy Booth nominated Ms. Rimmell for the Teacher Excellence Award. In her nominating statement, Ms. Booth said Ms. Rimmell is responsible for bringing back the yearbook so that, “students at her school can be Pueblo proud to highlight most of the school’s activities and awards.”

Ms. Booth went on to say that Ms. Rimmel “spends extra hours both at home and on campus to make sure her students are challenged to excel in their studies. Many of her students have qualified for scholarships to colleges throughout the United States because of her guidance.”
