Tucson Values Teachers (TVT) presented the April Teacher Excellence Award to Heather Griffith, a high school English teacher. Ms. Griffith has taught for 24 years, the last 20 at Amphitheater High School. This year, she teaches Senior English and Dual Enrollment Writing Composition. She is also co-sponsor of the National Honor Society chapter at her school.
Ms. Griffith was nominated by her colleague Julie Ramsey. In the nominating statement, Ms. Ramsey wrote, “Heather Griffith’s dedication to kids and their success is evident in everything she does; from being the first and last to leave every day, to the excellent communication with students and families, and she regularly demonstrates the concern she has for students’ well-being and learning through her interactions with students.”
Ms. Ramey went on to write, “Heather prepares her students for both college and the career field through the content she skillfully teaches. Amphi High School is lucky to have such a committed educator.”
